The WCVM Veterinary Medical Centre (VMC) is an internationally accredited veterinary teaching hospital serving Western Canada. The VMC has advanced diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities including ultrasonography, CT, MRI, PETCT, endoscopy, laparoscopy, arthroscopy, laser-guided surgery, a linear accelerator and an aquatic treadmill for pet rehabilitation. We offer specialty clinical services in internal medicine, anesthesiology, general and orthopedic surgery, critical care, dentistry, emergency services (24/7), ophthalmology, oncology, primary care, medical imaging and theriogenology.
Salaries
The University of Saskatchewan (USask) is a unionized environment and technical positions fall into the “applied scientific services” job family within the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) 1975.
Technician, Phase 3 (38 hours per week)*
Hourly wage range: $22.74 to $28.32
Technician, Phase 4 (38 hours per week)*
Hourly wage range: $24.74 to $32.7
Technician, Phase 5 (38 hours per week)*
Hourly wage range: $30.25 to $39.25
*Salary ranges subject to change based on contract negotiations
Earned days off (EDO): A full-time technician working 40 hours per week is entitled to an earned day off every fourth week.
Sick time and vacation: Employees accrue 9.5 hours of sick time per month (15 days per year). During the first five years of service, employees accrue three weeks of vacation. Time increases based on years of service.
Other leaves available for all employees: Compassionate, personal/family, illness in the family, special leave of absence without pay, jury duty, education, maternity/adoption/parental.
